LOVE THE ROCKET!!
My son loves the handmade rocket and I'm absolutely thrilled! He was playing with it last night and again this morning. "3-2-1...Blast off!", he repeated as he launched the rocker! It was not easy getting him to sit still for the photos....not at all but I'm pleased!

ROCKET FOR MY BOY
My two and a half-year old boy has been asking for a rocket. I made him one using felt and cloth stuffed with old towels and tees this morning on my brand new sewing machine! Yes!!! I finally made the commitment to sew on a regular basis and hopefully can continue with it after baby number two arrives (probably sometime this week!).
This is the first toy I've sewn for my dear son and I couldn't help wondering if he would like it. I really hope so and shall find out tonight:)
I also made another pair of felt booties today and named it Cloud. I experimented with non-slip sole for the first time and upsized it to a 6 to 12 months fit.

Quite an exciting experiment as the sole came out better than expected.

THE SEWING MAMA: MY FIRST BABY BOOTS & DRESS
After making a couple of booties, I've turned my attention to making a pair of felt boots for newborn. Not bad for a first try I guess:) And, yes, it is completely hand stitched.
I'm also utterly proud of the first dress I've sewn for my baby girl. Yes! My first creation on the sewing machine and its an adorable floral dress with ruffle sleeves and pocket!! Guess my baby girl can first wear it as a dress and then a top:) It's just so cute!!

FELT LOVE
I've been playing around with washable felt and am utterly happy with two of my recent creations:)

The other, my creation for today was a felt hair clip holder and it's just so pretty!I used lace instead of normal ribbon as it holds all kinds of clips better and even included a button on the holder so it can be secured straight in the wardrobe or on any hanger. I even personalised it with felt, hand stitched!
The first was a felt and yo-yo flower which I added to an otherwise plain looking top.

SEWING FOR PLEASURE!
Sewing has been a chore for me...until now. Not because I didn't enjoy creating stuff. I did and I do. But, my creative outlets have always been oil painting, scrapbooking or even baking...never sewing...until now. Somehow, knowing that I was going to have a baby girl changed my perception and I have been so inspired by the talented artisans on etsy that I've actually started sewing or hand stitching...I've not invested in the sewing machine...yet!
First, I bought Bond baby singlets (6 to 12 months) from Australia and sewn colourful yo-yos and buttons onto them. Here's an example of the one in Lavendar.

And I've just finished stitching a really pretty pair of felt booties (newborn to 3 months size). Adorable aren't they? The free pattern is available at http://www.heatherbaileydesign.com/Booties.html so you can give it a try as well!

It's a fabulous feeling creating something from scratch for your princess!

DIY PERSONALISED ONESIES
Iron-ons are really easy to use and absolutely fun for creating unique pieces for your baby. This is especially so if you can't sew, like me. These are a couple of pieces I personalised for my baby last Friday. All you need is some plain onesies, iron-ons (which you can easily purchase from Art Friend or Spotlight) and some creativity.
My husband actually thought these were new handmade stuff I bought from the US!
I have so many new ideas and have been so inspired by handmade clothes that I shall learn how to sew and get myself a sewing machine one day. Create, create, create. Perhaps, one day I will be giving away some of my happy creations, just like Grosgrain. Spread some happiness around!

These include unbelievable costumes and beautiful casual dresses. Check them out at http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/ and be totally inspired! I know I am!!
